Married in the United States? Register your marriage in Brazil without travelling.
Your American marriage recorded in Brazil, with effect on marital property, inheritance and retirement. We handle the transcription at the Brazilian registry, without you leaving the United States.
Situations we handle
If your case fits one of these scenarios, our team runs the whole procedure in Brazil with no need for you to travel.
- You married in the United States and the marriage does not appear in Brazilian records
- You want to define or confirm the marital property regime under Brazilian law
- You have property in Brazil and want your spouse protected as an heir
- You need the marriage recognized for pension or retirement purposes
The cost of waiting: what happens if you do not register it
For Brazil you are still single. The spouse does not appear as an heir, the property regime does not apply to assets held there, and any pension claim depending on the marriage runs into a record that does not show it.

The right route depends on your case
Each route carries different requirements and costs. Reviewing your documents we determine which applies — and the estimated timeline goes in writing in the proposal, before any payment.
Direct transcription at a registry
You have the apostilled American certificate. It is translated and filed in Brazil.
Registration at the consulate
The marriage is recorded at the Brazilian consulate and transcribed later.
All by power of attorney
Works with either route: you grant a power of attorney and we handle the rest.
What you will normally need
A simplified list of the documents usually required to start the procedure.
- American marriage certificate, with apostille
- Birth certificates of both spouses
- Identity document and CPF of the Brazilian spouse
- Proof of address in the United States
The exact list for your case comes with the initial review — we ask only for what is needed, with no pointless paperwork.

Frequently asked questions about foreign marriage registration
Is my American marriage valid in Brazil?
It is valid, but it produces no effect in Brazilian records until it is registered there. Without registration, Brazilian records still show you as single.
Is there a deadline to register?
There is no forfeiture deadline, but delay creates practical problems: inheritance, property sales and pension claims all run into records that do not reflect the marriage.
Which property regime applies?
As a rule, the one in force at the place of celebration, with the effects Brazilian law gives it. The case review clarifies what applies to your assets in Brazil.
Does my American spouse need to sign anything?
In most cases, no. The procedure runs on the marriage certificate and its documents.
Do I have to go to the consulate?
No. The registration is carried out by our team directly at the Brazilian registry.
